There is something incredibly special about a couple who knows exactly what they want from their wedding day, and from the very first time we spoke to Jennifer and Paddy, it was clear that they had a wonderful vision for their wedding in Spain.
When Jennifer first contacted us, she and Paddy were actually in Canada. They were planning their destination wedding from thousands of miles away, but despite the distance, they already had a very clear idea of the type of wedding they wanted.
They were looking for somewhere beautiful, romantic and distinctly Spanish, with a venue that would give them the perfect setting for celebrating with family and friends. Their plans developed, they knew they wanted something particularly special for their ceremony too.
Their wedding day on 10th July 2026 brought all of those plans together beautifully, with a romantic ceremony at San Antonio de Padua Church in Frigiliana, followed by their wedding reception at the stunning Casa de los Bates. It was a truly beautiful day, and one that we were absolutely delighted to have been part of.
From Canada to Spain – Finding Their Perfect Wedding
When Jennifer and Paddy first got in touch, they were already thinking carefully about what they wanted from their destination wedding.
They knew that finding the right venue was going to be one of the most important decisions they would make.
Rather than simply looking for somewhere pretty, they wanted a venue with character, atmosphere and a real sense of occasion. Somewhere their guests would remember and somewhere that would give them the kind of wedding day they had imagined. Once we understood exactly what they were looking for, the search became much easier.
And then there was the ceremony.
A Romantic Church Wedding in Frigiliana
From our early conversations, Jennifer and Paddy quickly fell in love with the idea of getting married at San Antonio de Padua Church in Frigiliana. Situated in the heart of the beautiful white village of Frigiliana, the church is a wonderful choice for couples looking for a traditional Spanish church wedding. The parish dates back centuries and the church has a wonderfully authentic character.
There is something particularly romantic about arriving in a traditional Andalusian village for your wedding ceremony before continuing on to a beautiful private venue for the celebrations. For Jennifer and Paddy, it was exactly the combination they were looking for.
Their guests would get to experience the charm of Frigiliana, the emotion of a church wedding and then the excitement of heading on to Casa de los Bates for the rest of the celebrations. It created a wedding day with a real sense of occasion from beginning to end.
Choosing Casa de los Bates
For the wedding reception, Casa de los Bates provided the perfect setting.
This beautiful historic property in Motril is surrounded by spectacular gardens and Mediterranean scenery. The venue is home to both an 18th-century botanical garden and a romantic Italian-style garden, with the Mediterranean providing a stunning backdrop. It is easy to see why couples fall in love with it.
Casa de los Bates has a very different feel from a conventional wedding venue. It has history, character and an incredible sense of privacy, creating the feeling that you have discovered somewhere genuinely special.
For Jennifer and Paddy, it was the perfect place to continue their celebrations after their Frigiliana church ceremony. And by the time their wedding day arrived, every detail had been carefully planned.
A Perfect Wedding Day
After all the planning, emails, decisions and preparations, 10th July finally arrived, it was everything Jennifer and Paddy could have hoped for. There was such a lovely feeling surrounding the day. The excitement that comes with a destination wedding was combined with the warmth and happiness of having family and friends all together in Spain to celebrate with them. Jennifer and Paddy had been such a lovely couple to work with throughout their planning, and that made seeing their wedding day come together particularly rewarding.
Everything felt very natural.
There was no sense of the day being overly complicated or stressful. Instead, it was simply about two people who had chosen a beautiful part of Spain in which to get married and were surrounded by the people they loved most.
Saying “I Do” in Frigiliana
The ceremony at San Antonio de Padua was a beautiful and emotional part of the day. After planning their wedding from Canada and spending so much time imagining what their Perfect Spanish Wedding would eventually look like, Jennifer and Paddy were finally standing together in the beautiful surroundings of Frigiliana, ready to become husband and wife.
There is something wonderfully timeless about a church wedding in Spain. The traditional architecture, the historic surroundings and the atmosphere of the old village all combine to create a ceremony that feels meaningful and memorable. And once Jennifer and Paddy had exchanged their vows, it was time for the celebrations to begin.
From Frigiliana to Casa de los Bates
Leaving the church behind and heading to Casa de los Bates gave the wedding day another beautiful dimension. The transition from the historic streets of Frigiliana to the lush gardens of Casa de los Bates meant that Jennifer and Paddys guests experienced two completely different sides of Andalucía during the same wedding day.
First came the romance and tradition of the church ceremony, followed by the relaxed elegance of a private garden wedding reception.
Casa de los Bates was the perfect place for everyone to come together, relax and enjoy the evening. With its beautiful historic gardens, tropical surroundings and views towards the Mediterranean, it creates an extraordinary backdrop for a destination wedding.
A Celebration Full of Happiness
And, of course, once the formalities were over, it was time to celebrate! One of the best things about a destination wedding is seeing everyone relax as the day progresses. Guests have travelled a long way to be there, and once the ceremony is over, there is a wonderful
sense that everyone can simply enjoy being together.
For Jennifer and Paddy, the celebrations at Casa de los Bates were exactly that. There was happiness, laughter, plenty of love and the wonderful atmosphere that comes when two families and groups of friends come together to celebrate something very special.
After all the months of planning, this was their moment to stop worrying about the details andsimply enjoy their wedding day.
And they certainly did.

It was romantic, elegant, relaxed and full of happiness – in other words, a perfect Spanish wedding.
